In 1939 Standard Oil awarded a franchise and a gas station was built in the center court. The picture above is from a pre-1941 postcard.

After WWII, a new office was built adjoining the owners quarters and the inn was re-named the Del Sue Motel.

In 1998 the Grand Motel was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in honor of its importance as a pioneer of lodging on Route 66.
