The train is one of the few steam engine trains left in the United States. It runs all year round however, the steam engine only runs mamorial day weekend io labor day weekend. The train is a 5 hour round trip so do not be in a hurry on this trip. If you take the train you have very little time at the canyon (2.5 to 3 hours) so plan on a limited viewing time.
